How To Escape From Each Exit In The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Jun 12, 2023

Fuse boxes, water valves, electrified gates? There are four exits on each map that Family members will patrol, and Victims will need to find.

The asymmetrical horror gameplay loop of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has Victims trying to escape the bloodthirsty clutches of the Family, while the Family does all they can to finally kill the survivors. For Victims, the only escape from certain death is one of a few exits from the property.

Whether you are at the Family House, Slaughterhouse, or Gas Station, there are always four exits on each map. Some will require certain additional parts to activate, and some will leave Victims exposed and easily seen. Here is a breakdown of each exit.

There is a main road at the edge of each property that functions as an escape route. The road is protected by an electrified cattle grid, which is hooked to a generator. Vibrant cables run from the grid to its power source.

This is the easiest exit from each match, as it only requires turning off the generator and then making a break for it. Once you reach the main road as a Victim, you can run either way to escape. Victims also don't need to worry about having any specific items to exit here.

Of course, the generator has to be turned on at the start of the match by the Family in the first place. The generator will have a loud audio cue when it’s running, which can help you locate it when you need to. If it gets turned off, it can be turned back on again after a short cooldown.

Much like the name suggests, the rear gate exit is found at the back of each property. If you look for large gate posts around a fence, you'll be able to find the locked gate leading to this exit.

This gate can also be electrified by a nearby power source, zapping anyone who tries to touch it. Like the main road exit, power cables will run along the ground to be hooked up somewhere nearby, usually a car battery.

Victims will need to both turn off the car battery and unlock the gate, but should be careful. The rear gate exit is an open area, giving nearby Family members a direct line of sight to you. Plus, there will sometimes be chickens nearby that can alert the Family to your presence.

The third exit is linked to a water pressure tank, which can open a large metal gate leading to an escape route on the exterior of each map. This exit requires a few different steps and parts.

Victims wanting to exit this way will first need to find the valve handle that is hidden on a pipe somewhere on the map. You’ll need to take it off and add it to your inventory. You’ll then need to find the actual water pressure tank in a different location and attach the valve handle there.

Steam will begin shooting out of the pressure tank to signify that it is working, which is a visual cue for both the Family and Victims. It will take a bit of time for the pressure to build up, but will eventually cause the gate to open temporarily for Victims to escape through.

Family members can always close the pressure tank while steam is pouring out of it, forcing Victims to begin the waiting process again. Victims will need to turn the valve handle at the tank again to get it to work.

The final exit might be the most difficult out of the four. Deep in the basement is a heavy metal door with “Keep Away” and “High Voltage” signs. However, opening it up will take multiple steps and require multiple parts.

Opening the door will require the fuse box to be fixed, which is located somewhere above ground on the map. Victims will have to locate the fuse itself first and put it in their inventory. This can be almost anywhere and is found on an open circuit board with a small light on it.

The fuse will need to be taken to the fuse box, which can then be broken open by using a tool.

Repairing the fuse box means solving a small puzzle. Match the fuses by color from your available options. Victims will need to do a bit of math to make sure the correct voltage is being supplied in each pair.

After successfully finishing the puzzle, the basement door will open for a period of time. During this time, the Family can find and shut off the fuse box. Luckily for Victims, if this happens, you can just go back and turn on the fuse box again.

Make sure to know where the basement door is first before repairing the fuse box, so you don’t waste precious time running around trying to find it.
